Odysseus prayed to me many times asking for help during his quest. I wanted to help him somewhat, but since he angered other gods he had to do some things to make Odysseus’s trip across the ocean to get back home difficult. Since I am the god of the sky, I could probably do some damage to his crew or his ship! During his trip, his crew grew very hungry and they stopped on the way home at a sea cave where Helios’s cattle where. Helios didn’t want them to eat the cattle and neither did Odysseus but his crew thought otherwise and while he was sleeping they ate the cattle and Helios was angered and told me to strike Odysseus’s ship with lightning. I didn’t want to do it but Apollo: the god of the sun: threatened to shine for the underworld if I didn’t do it. I was in a bad situation, but I decided to strike his ship. Odysseus’s entire crew was killed but him. I felt bad about doing that because i knew Odysseus was a good person. I also knew that it wasn’t him that ate the cattle in the first place, it was actually his men! But they were all punished for it. I also knew that Odysseus prayed to me and asked for help, but I had to strike his ship, or the entire world would be dark because Helios would make the sun go to the underworld. Even though I struck Odysseus’s ship he got away safely.
